BioTakuma Koga began his playing career at Jubilo Iwata, and played for the team throughout the 1990, piling up a number of appearances that would surely qualify him for the hall of fame even if we considered his career at Jubilo, alone. But by the late 1990s, as he passed 30, Koga's speed on the wing began to fade and despite some still-formidable defensive skills, he began to lose playing time to a younger rival, Takahiro Yamanishi. After playing only a minor role in Jubilo's championship season in 1999, Koga asked for and received a move to Shimizu S-Pulse, where he continued to make valuable contributions for another three years. In 2003, S-Pulse traded Koga to Cerezo Osaka, which used him briefly but soon discovered that his playing career was well onto the downhill slope. At the end of the season, Koga hung up the boots after having recorded 225 J1 appearances.
