Ganzu
Matsumoto Yamaga adopted the Rock Ptarmigan - a bird that lives high in the mountains of Nagano - as its mascot. The choice seems to have reflected two considerations: The team wanted to imitate nearby teams like Albirex, Kataller and Antelope FC by choosing local fauna as a mascot, but most of the really good choices (like the Japanese Serow) were already taken.
Nevertheless, the Ptarmigan's hardy and enduring character, as well as its cuddly appearance, seem to be a good fit for the team from mountainous Shinano. The only element that is hard to understand is the choice of a name. Perhaps somebody didnt know how to spell "Gonzo"?
