Kasamatsu Stadium

Kasamatsu Town, Ibaraki Prefecture

Kasamatsu Stadium is a fairly new facility, but it is built on much the same plan as so many other small-town multipurpose stadiums in Japan, with a ring of uncovered seats around the wide running track and a fery small press box and roof over the "prestige" seats. The field is very far from the stands, and even when there is a fairly large growd, the stadium seems rather arid. If that were not bad enough, the facility is located a considerable distance from Mito City, the nearest town in the area, and is a long hike from the nearest train station.

Stadium Access

Kasamatsu Stadium is located near Tokai station, on the JR Joban line, but it is a good 30 minute walk from the station, and for those who are not interested in a pre-match hike, the best way to get to the stadium is probably to catch a shuttle bus from Mito station. The bus service, Ibaraki Kotsu Bus, has well marked "for Kasamatsu Park" buses leaving from the front of JR Mito station, and thre bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Alternatively, there are buses from Tokai station as well, leaving from berth number 35. Catch the bus marked "Ibaraki Daizen", and get off at the Kasamatsu Sports Park entrance. The trim takes about ten minutes.
